(Joplin, MO) – The Joplin Schools Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the 2026 class of the Joplin Schools Alumni Hall of Fame.
Community members, alumni, current and retired staff members, students, and family members are encouraged to nominate outstanding Joplin Schools graduates for recognition. Nominations are accepted year-round, but the deadline to be considered for the 2026 class of inductees is Friday, May 1. Nominations can be made here.
The Foundation’s Hall of Fame project was created to recognize and honor the achievements of outstanding alumni from Joplin High School, Lincoln School, Memorial High School, and Parkwood High School. Representatives from the Joplin Schools Foundation believe that by honoring Joplin Schools’ history in recognizing these individuals who have excelled in their career and life, current students may be inspired to realize that no dream is out of reach. Nominees may be honored posthumously, and must have graduated at least 25 years prior to their nomination.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, the Foundation honors Meritorious Award winners, for individuals who may not have attended Joplin Schools, but who, through leadership, service and/or support, have demonstrated extraordinary contributions to Joplin Schools and the local education community.
The 2025 class of Hall of Fame inductees included Samuel Austin Allen, Debi Vowels-Durham, Dan Stanley, and Vance Powell, with Jack Holden being named as the Meritorious Award winner.
An induction ceremony is planned for Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Hall of Fame members are showcased and highlighted in a permanent installation located in the Joplin High School Performing Arts Center. Joplin Schools students and community members will be encouraged to view the installation as desired.
