Nominations for the 2025–2026 Golden Apple Awards, powered by ALLO Fiber, are now open until Monday, March 9 at 5:00 pm. This will be the 41st year of the awards, which are meant to recognize some of the wonderful educators here in Joplin. More information, as well as the nomination form, can be found here.
There are four categories for teachers based on grade level taught. For the first time, Pre-K teachers will be eligible in the Pre-K to Second Grade category. The remaining categories are Third to Fifth Grade, Sixth to Eighth Grade, and Ninth to Twelfth Grade.
Teachers are eligible to win if they:
- Teach in the Joplin school district or any private school in Joplin
- Are a certified classroom teacher
- Instructed students on a daily basis during the 2025-2026 school year
- Have not won the award previously
Nominated teachers will fill out a questionnaire about their experience and teaching philosophies. Then the finalists will be selected and interviewed by a panel of judges. All finalists in each category will be recognized at an award ceremony in early May where the winners will be announced.
There are many inspiring and influential educators in Joplin, so make sure to nominate them and recognize them for all their hard work.
Thank you to our generous sponsors. ALLO Fiber is our title sponsor and Missouri Southern State University’s Teacher Education Department is our gold sponsor for this year’s awards.
