Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School Senior Receives QuestBridge Match Offer to Ivy League Institution

(Joplin, MO)Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School (TJ) Senior Trenton Farley was named a QuestBridge Scholar and received a Match offer from his top-ranked college, Brown University, an Ivy League institution in Providence, Rhode Island. Trenton will receive a financial aid package from Brown University estimated at $383,936, covering tuition and fees, housing and dining, and all indirect costs for the next four years.

Trenton shared, “Being selected as a QuestBridge Scholar and matched with Brown, my first-choice school, feels extraordinary, especially after starting senior year with very limited confidence in my ability to reach something of this caliber. This experience shows me, and others, that everyone’s potential is so much greater than we believe. I am deeply grateful for both the opportunity and everybody that helped me along the way.”

The profile of the typical 2025 QuestBridge Finalist is exceptional by any measure. Every Finalist will complete high school with college-level coursework, and yet, the group’s average unweighted GPA is 3.9. A full quarter of Finalists scored in the top 1% nationally on the ACT or SAT. And more than 90% have held a leadership position in an extracurricular. Trenton, in addition to his coursework at TJ, participates in soccer, basketball, track, math league, speech & debate, National Honor Society, student council, and the Upper School musical.

QuestBridge was founded in 1994 as a college-prep program for high-achieving, high-need students with an aim to make the nation’s top colleges achievable and affordable. Last year, over 25,500 students applied representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and
four U.S. territories.

In October, each of the 7,026 QuestBridge Finalists submitted a ranked choice list of up to 15 partner colleges. On December 1, we learned that a mere 2,550 Finalists (36.3%) were matched. One of them being Trenton Farley who matched with his top choice – Brown
University!

Last year, Brown University admitted just 5.65% of its 42,765 undergraduate applicants. Trenton plans to pursue a career in education and to eventually teach history and coach debate.
