(Joplin, MO) – Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 43 area healthcare facilities, is encouraging donors to give blood before the Memorial Day weekend at the Great Gas Card Giveaway Blood Drive.
The Great Gas Card Giveaway Blood Drive takes place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donor centers in Joplin and Springfield. Donors who give blood at one of CBCO Missouri donor centers will receive a mystery Casey’s gift card valued at $10, $25, $50, or even $100, while supplies last. Donors will also receive a custom Springfield Cardinals T-shirt and a voucher for two free tickets to an upcoming Springfield Cardinals baseball game.
Donation hours for the Great Gas Card Giveaway Blood Drive are:
- Joplin – Joplin Donor Center, 2318 E. 32nd Street (we have moved — new location), 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Springfield – Thomson Donor Center, 220 W Plainview Road, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
- All donor centers will be closed Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
As Memorial Day weekend approaches, Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is urging donors to fuel the blood supply before hitting the road. “Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer, where we often see a rise in traumatic injuries that require lifesaving blood transfusions, while donations tend to decline due to vacations and busy schedules,” said Michelle Teter, CBCO Media Relations Representative. “We encourage donors to make blood donation a priority before the holiday weekend. Your generosity can help ensure a stable supply for local patients in need.”

Photo identification is required. Please eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive.
