Franklin Technology Center Students Eligible for New Pittsburg State University Scholarships

(Joplin, MO) – A new partnership between Pittsburg State University’s Crossland College of Technology and Franklin Technology Center (FTC) at Joplin High School will provide up to ten full-tuition scholarships for students working toward careers in technology fields.

The new Crossland College of Technology Enterprise Program was recently announced at a signing event at FTC. Many of FTC’s Career and Technical Education pathways lead into post-secondary opportunities available to students through the Crossland College of Technology at Pitt State, including collision repair, welding, and HVAC.

The scholarships will be renewable for two to four years, depending on which program the students are accepted into. Students can choose from programs including automotive technology, plastics technology, electronics engineering, manufacturing engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, construction engineering technology, construction management, interior design, safety management, technical teacher education, wood product manufacturing, career and technician education, graphic communications, and workforce development.

The new partnership also allows Pitt State to provide guest speakers and special events at FTC in support of technical fields of study.

FTC Director Kaci Dorton said this partnership is perfectly aligned with the mission of FTC, which is to provide students with hands-on, technology-centered career training that prepares them for both the workforce and further education.

“Our team works hard to secure internships, scholarships, and job placements for our students and we couldn’t do it without strong community partnerships like this one,” said Dorton. “We’re excited to welcome PSU’s Crossland College of Technology as another valuable pathway for our students.”

Students graduating in 2026 will be the first class eligible to apply for the scholarships, and can learn more by speaking with their school counselor.
