City of Joplin Announces Closure at Intersection of Zora/Duquesne Starts Monday, November 11

The City of Joplin warns citizens that beginning Monday, November 11, the intersection of Zora Street and Duquesne Road/Hall Street will be closed to all traffic as the intersection improvement project moves into the next phase.

Soft closures will be placed at Zora Street at Range Line Road, Zora Street at Highway 249, and Newman Road at Duquesne Road. Soft closure means through-traffic is diverted at the point of the soft closure, but drivers can still access the local residences between the intersection and the aforementioned soft closures. However, drivers will not be able to go through the intersection of Zora Road and Duquesne Road.

Detour routes will be posted. All traffic, including truck traffic accessing the Joplin/Webb City Industrial Park, will be detoured via Newman Road to Range Line Road or via Highway 171 to Madison Street.

This closure will remain in effect through the remainder of the project.

This project is anticipated to be completed before spring. Please watch for updates. The City appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as this intersection is made safer and more efficient for traffic flow in the area. This project is funded by the Capital Improvement Sales Tax which was approved by voters in 2014.

For questions about the project, call Rob Beachner, Capital Improvement Project Manager, 417.624.0820, ext. 1543.
