Welcome, Kelsey Little!
Our office is thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Kelsey Little, who has recently joined our Missouri SBDC at MSSU family as a Business Consultant!
Kelsey Little brings a rich background in customer experience from both the public and private sectors to her role in the Small Business Development Center at Missouri Southern State University. Leveraging extensive experience from her tenure at Leggett & Platt and the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, Kelsey has a proven track record in customer journey mapping, motivational interviewing, and initiating new customer experience strategies to solve problems and identify new opportunities.
Kelsey holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Pittsburg State University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with an emphasis in Intercultural Communication from Missouri Southern State University. Her academic background, coupled with her professional history, equips her with a multicultural, customer-centric perspective that is a tremendous asset in her role as the Small Business Development Center Consultant.
What Cybersecurity Threats Does Your Small Business Face?

Jason Rincker with Stronghold Data will focus on the foundation of cybersecurity for small business owners. He will address frequently asked questions regarding cybersecurity and cybersecurity hygiene. Attendees do not need to have a technical background for this overarching cybersecurity briefing.
Each attendee will gain awareness of the cybersecurity threats facing their small business.

Meet the Microlenders Registration

Small Business Administration (SBA) approved microlenders specialize in providing capital to small businesses. Four SBA approved microlenders operate in southwest Missouri. During this virtual presentation, representatives from the microlenders will talk about their services.
SBA approved microlenders are not-for-profit intuitions that provide funding for small businesses that a traditional bank would not. Presenters at this event include:

Starting a Small Business: The First Steps

This workshop focuses on essential concepts that a potential small business owner should consider before starting their small business. Participants will learn about the importance of discovering their target market and gain an appreciation of understanding their customers.
Those attending the workshop will also learn the steps in licensing and registering their business with federal, state, and local agencies. Finally, participants will understand the importance of cash flow projections and various funding alternatives.

The Nanette Philibert Business of Art Symposium

This 10th annual professional development event highlights resources, issues, and practical concerns that artist and other creatives need to navigate as they develop and maintain their professional practice. Participants have the opportunity to hear from art professionals from the region discuss opportunities and challenges on the business side of their profession. MSSU design students will also have an opportunity to participate in a separate breakout portfolio review session.
