(Joplin, MO) – The second annual Artful Medicine Symposium is to take place from October 19–21 on Missouri Southern State University’s campus.
Sponsored by Freeman Health System, Dr. Lance and Mrs. Sharon Beshore, and Kansas City University (KCU), this conference strives to unite healthcare and the humanities by pursuing innovative pathways to improve patient/physician interactions through research and artwork.
Abstracts have been received from renowned institutions such as Harvard and Yale and territories like the U.S. Virgin Islands. Attendance is expected to increase since the first symposium last year.
The keynote address will be delivered by Renée Nicholson, director of the Humanities Center at West Virginia University and Angela N. Pierce, assistant dean of Whole Health Integration at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine.
Missouri Southern and KCU students and employees may register for free. Freeman Health System employees are also granted free registration.
Art submissions are due by October 6, and potential contributors must apply here.
Non-MSSU or KCU students and employees should view prices and register for the Artful Medicine Symposium by clicking here.
