MASH Camp Offers Glimpse Into Health Care Careers

JOPLIN, Mo. (July 31, 2023) – In conjunction with the Southwest Missouri Area Health Education Center, Mercy Hospital Joplin will host the 2023 MASH Camp kids’ science and health exploration day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 3.

MASH (Missouri AHEC Science and Health) Camp is an event that aims to spark an interest in the science and health care fields among middle school and junior high-aged students throughout the Four-State Area and exposes them to a host of potential career paths.

Students in attendance will tour some of the hospital’s features and departments, including emergency vehicles, operating rooms, imaging rooms and more. Interactive activities will include hands-on experiments and operating room tours.

“We are so excited for this group of kids to join us this year,” said Angela Kennedy, medical education coordinator. “MASH Camp is a great way for students to step into the world of health care in a way that’s fun and interactive. While they’re here, kids will have an experience that is both educational and entertaining. We hope the event sparks a passion for science and health care in the kids and inspires them to consider a career in the health sciences.”

If planning to attend, please RSVP to Jordan Larimore at 409-550-2928 or jordan.larimore@mercy.net.
