Joplin Public Library Partners with Joplin Schools to Provide Free Lunches to Children

(Joplin, MO) Joplin Public Library is proud to partner with the Joplin Schools’ Nutritional Services department to provide free lunches to area children starting Wednesday, July 5. Any child, under 18 years, is eligible to receive a sack lunch. Lunches will be handed out Monday through Friday, starting at 11:00 am, in the lobby of the Library (1901 E. 20th Street). They will be provided on a first come, first served basis, with the program running through August 11. All food must be eaten onsite.

“We are looking forward to partnering with Joplin Schools to provide area children lunch at the Joplin Public Library for the third summer in a row,” said Joplin Public Library Director Jeana Gockley. “One noteworthy part of the arrangement is that the meals are for all children, no matter where they live or go to school. This is a great complement to our Summer Reading
Program, where anyone, no matter where they live, can get a Library card.”

The Library’s Summer Reading Program is a free program designed to keep all ages reading, learning, and discovering during summer. Participants can earn free books and win prizes, plus, the Library is offering numerous special events for the public to enjoy.
