Joplin Empire Market to Host Bees & Blossoms Spring Market on May 13

(Joplin, MO)Joplin Empire Market will hold their 2nd Annual Bees & Blossoms Spring Market on Saturday, May 13.

The event will be held during normal market hours from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Attendees can learn about native bee hotels and take one home to paint and put in their yard, while supplies lasts. The Market will also be giving away large tree and bush seedlings from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Redbuds, Aromatic Sumac, Wild Plum Trees, and Blackberry Bushes will be among those offered. These are first come, first serve and are free to take though small donations would be appreciated. Pollinator Mix pots will also be available for a $10 donation.

Be on hand in the Community Gardens to assist in the release of 3,000 live ladybugs to add to the pollinator base in the area. Sunflower plants will be available for the kiddos, both to take home and to plant onsite in the pollinator strip at the market. Kids can also take along a Pollinator Scavenger Hunt sheet so they can recognize ways to help the bees that live all over the region.

Visitors can shop all three market halls with fresh produce, pastured meat, artisan goods, coffee from Cottage Small Coffee Roasters, wine and cocktails from Just A Taste, and ready-to-eat food all available. Try a fresh roll from Nan Made, grab a croissant from Farmhouse Bakery, and more! It’s the perfect place to find a unique Mother’s Day gift!

Lindsay Gagnon, Market Director, says “Spring is such a fun time to be at the Market, as we have more fresh produce coming in every week, and the community gardens are starting to bloom. Pollinators help make what our farmers do possible and this day is all about them!”

There is no charge for entry into this event.
