Joplin Public Library To Host Researching Your Roots: Tools for Discovering Your Family Tree

(Joplin, MO) – The Joplin Public Library is hosting the upcoming program “Researching Your Roots: Tools for Discovering Your Family Tree.” In this genealogy-focused program, Library staff member Richard Porter will be highlighting resources available at the Library for genealogy research, including databases and our Local History and Genealogy department on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30 pm.

Joining Porter for the program will be long-time library patron, Rikki Smith. She is a frequent user of the Library’s genealogy resources and as part of the program she will share her hands-on experience with genealogy research using the Library’s tools.

“Being able to come to the library and find what you need to tell your family story or put the pieces of your puzzle together is vital for genealogists,” said program presenter Rikki Smith. “I am excited to share my journey and help others discover the resources at the library.”

At the conclusion of the program, Porter and Smith will answer audience questions. The program will be held at the Library on the east side of the Community Room. It is free to attend and no library card is required.

This program is offered as part of Joplin Reads Together, the library’s premier community read.  For more information about this program, please contact Sarah Turner-Hill at 417.623.7953 or sturnerhill@joplinpubliclibrary.org.
