Downtown Joplin Alliance and Its Partners Invites the Community to an Input Workshop for Union Depot

As you may now, Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) has been actively working to find a developer and end user for the Union Depot property. Along with structural and environmental studies, DJA has partnered with Kansas State University and South Dakota State University to facilitate a community input session about the property.

The architectural department at South Dakota State will present architectural renderings based on the results. Additionally, Place + Main Advisors will follow this presentation with economic feasibility studies for the project and a gap/needs analysis for downtown. The end product will be a complete packet with a community-driven, feasible project with visuals and a building and grounds assessment that a prospective developer could use to create a successful and impactful project at the location.

The community is invited to take part in the community input sessions that will take place on February 10 and 11. Details are as follows:

  • Friday, February 10 @ 10:30 to 11:30 am (This session is intended for the Chamber of Commerce and Business Community and will be hosted at the Chamber office, 320 E. 4th Street.)
  • Friday, February 10 @ 7:00 to 8:30 pm (This is a community roundtable open to everyone and will be hosted at Chaos Brewing, 212 S. Main Street.)
  • Saturday, February 11 @ 10 am to 2:00 pm (This is a community survey and will be hosted at the Empire Market, 931 E. 4th Street.)
