Grants for Recycling Education
Region M has funding available for schools and other organizations to receive up to $2,000.00 for recycling education projects! Previously, Missouri Southern State University was awarded $2,000 for their annual Earth Day Celebration, which was held on April 22. And the Area Agency on Aging – Region X, recieved a grant through Region M this last round. The funding allowed for the development of a recycling program for Parkwood Senior Apartments. Residents received a refillable water bottle, access to onsite document destruction, and bins for recycling.

Thanking Joe Hardin
Region M would like to thank Joe Hardin for serving as the Region M Waste Management Chairperson for the past seven years. Thank you, Joe, for your service!
Open House at Prairie View Landfill
Several of us attended the Open House at Prairie View Landfill, which is owned and operated by Republic Services. We learned about the capacity, all of the monitoring, and how they generate a portion of electricity for the City of Lamar.
Christmas Parade Season is Approaching!
With Christmas parades just around the corner, Region M will use the tree they made from plastic bottles last year as they participate in a few parades in some of their communities. Be sure to watch for them at the Joplin, Neosho, and Carl Junction Christmas parades.
Get Caught Recycling
Are you guilty of being a good steward of the environment?
Each week, Region M will randomly visit a business or other organization in their district. Will you get caught recycling when they arrive? If they catch you, your mugshot will appear on their Facebook and Instagram pages, and you’ll receive some cool swag as well!
