(Joplin, MO) – Holiday events have begun in downtown Joplin, including the Holiday Window Decorating Competition. This is an annual competition organized by Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA), which includes different categories for businesses to strive for. All downtown businesses are encouraged to participate in this year’s theme, March of the Toys. Merchants will deck their “halls” (storefronts and/or windows) and are competing for trophies and bragging rights in the following categories:
- Best Use of Theme (March of the Toys)
- Best Use of Lights
- Most Creative
Public online voting will begin November 17 and continue through December 16. Competition winners will be announced and awarded trophies on December 20 in the lobby of City Hall at 2:30 pm.
Lori Haun, Executive Director of DJA, states, “We look forward to seeing everyone’s beautifully decorated and creative window displays this holiday season. Holiday displays will remain visible throughout the coming weeks for the public’s enjoyment. Happy decorating!”
