Wildcat Glades Friends Group Releases October 2022 Program List

This coming October, the Wildcat Glades Friends Group, along with other partners, will be hosting a hands-on preschool connections program, kids and adult yoga, a nature explorer’s program, and much more.

Yoga in Nature for Adults

October 8 | 8:30 to 9:30 am | For ages 12+ | $10 to attend | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this class is designed to incorporate elements of nature, breathing, and yoga poses. Bring your yoga mat or a towel and a reusable water bottle. This is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy nature.

Yoga in Nature for Kids

October 8 | 10:30 am | For ages 4+ accompanied by an adult | $7 to attend 

Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this class is designed to incorporate elements of fun, breathing, and yoga poses specifically for kids. Bring your yoga mat or a towel and a reusable water bottle. Yoga is very beneficial for children’s health and even better when it can be done outdoors.

NEW! Yoga Classes on Monday

Every Monday in October Starting on October 3 | Held at various times

  • Chair Yoga – For ages 12 and up. This is a 30-minute yoga class that will begin at 2:30 pm. It will feature gentle chair yoga that is great if you are limited in mobility. It is also perfect for anyone new to yoga who wants to increase their flexibility and strength. This class costs $10 to attend.
  • Kids Yoga – For ages six and up. This 30- to 45-minute class will begin at 3:15 pm. We will focus on breathing, fun yoga poses, and games that have many benefits for kids. This can also be an opportunity to teach kids coping skills that they can use later in life. This class costs $7 to attend.
  • Adult Yoga – For ages 12 and up. This is a 50-minute class that will begin at 4:10. This class features beginners yoga and will teach participants basic breathing techniques and poses. It is $10 for this 50-minute class.

Nature Explorers: Creepy Crawlies in the Leaves

October 21 @ 6:00 to 9:00 pm | October 22 @ 4:30 to 8:00 pm | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Jinkies, Joplin! We have some mysteries to solve at Wildcat Glades and we could use you and your family’s help! Join us for an evening of fun and learning as we walk you through the glade to help us solve mysteries. The Wildcat Gang will be telling stories about the unique animals you might see in Wildcat Park as well as their quirks. There will be refreshments available and a surprise photo opportunity to make the night truly memorable. We hope you will join us!

Preschool Program: Night Flyers!

What flies at night feasting on mosquitoes and other insects? A bat! Join us to learn all about these flying mammals.

Nature Explorers: Creepy Crawlies in the Leaves

October 27 | 6:00 to 7:00 pm | For ages 6+ | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Join us to learn about all the critters hiding in the leaf litter! From overwintering insects to small animals, there is much to be found under the fall leaves. There will be a short program and an exploration activity for the children outside of the cottage.
