(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA), General Mills, and Blue Buffalo welcome the community to Main Street for August’s Third Thursday Dog Days of Summer! Find our sponsors on the 400 block from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
Join Blue Buffalo as they connect with the community and help pet families connect with each other! They will be hosting two Coolest Pet Contests, so make sure to sign up for either the 6:30 pm or 7:30 pm event. And it’ll be hot out, so bring your pets in their coolest gear. Blue Buffalo will also have opportunities for kids and pets to cool down with sprinklers, doggy ice cream, agility and obedience demonstrations from the Tri-State Kennel Association, and a photo booth as well as lots of information about who General Mills and Blue Buffalo are and how they deliver superior quality products that pets (and their humans) deserve!
You can also expect to see Create-and-Sip Studios (doing live dog caricatures), Black Spot Boutique, Heartland K9 for Veterans, and many dog obedience organizations.
Third Thursday has something for everyone, including:
- Over 20 food trucks
- Vintage car cruise on the 100 block
- Artisan market on the 500 block
- Axe throwing at Main Street Axe Company
- Virtual Reality Café at Pennington Station
- Lots to eat from our local restaurants and bars
Lori Haun, executive director of the DJA, states, “We love to see downtown transform into a pedestrian-focused space each Third Thursday, and a big part of that is getting to enjoy the streets in a safe manner with your beloved pets. Several of our downtown establishments allow dogs on their patios or inside, so make plans to spend all evening here! ”
There are still opportunities for volunteers, sponsors, and vendors for the remaining events of the year. More information can be found on the Third Thursday Facebook page or at downtownjoplin.com/thirdthursday.
