(Joplin, MO) – This month, the Wildcat Glades Friends Group, along with other partners, will be hosting a hands-on preschool connections program, kids and adult yoga, and a day-long trip to Roaring River for the Carthage Y Children’s Group.
UPOP Roaring River Trip
July 8 | 8:00 am to 4:00 pm | For Carthage Y Children Group, ages 5 to 12 | Roaring River State Park
Children will be split into three groups for fishing, a hatchery tour, and hiking the Devil’s Kitchen Trail. We will provide Lunchables, chips, bottled water, fruit, and will purchase a postcard for each child as a souvenir. Roaring River Park will provide fishing tags, poles, and bait.
Wildcat Glades Friends’ Group Rummage Sale
July 8 and 9 | 8:00 am to 4:00 pm | BEW Hall on S. Main Street in Joplin
Please collect your good stuff (no clothes, please) and call if you need help transporting your items to the sale. Volunteers are needed to price items, set up and tear down, and selling.
Yoga in Nature for Adults
July 9 | 8:30 to 9:30 am | For ages 16+ | $10 to attend | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage
Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this class is designed to incorporate elements of nature, breathing, and yoga poses. Bring your yoga mat or a towel and a reusable water bottle. This is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy nature.

Carver Days
July 10 | 10:00 am to 1:00 pm | For all ages at George Washington Carver National Monument
The 78th annual Carver Days held at George Washington Carver National Monument will commemorate the life of George Washington Carver and the establishment of the monument in his honor on July 14, 1943. There will be live music, anniversary exhibits, guided tours, and Wildcat Glades Friends Group will have a booth!
Wildcat Glades Friends Group: Cooking for a Cause
July 16 | 8:30 to 11:00 am | $7 a plate | Held at the Webb City Farmer’s Market
Wildcat Glades Friends Group will be meeting at the Webb City Farmer’s Market to prepare and serve breakfast to teh public.
Preschool Program – Kites
July 27 @ 10:00 and July 30 @ 1:00 pm | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage
Children will receive kite kits that they can decorate. Join us as we read Biscuit Flies a Kite and learn about wind and direction!
