Freeman Breaks Ground on New Medical Office Building

Construction begins on Phase 1 of Expansion Plan

(Joplin, MO) Freeman Health System begins building for the future with a groundbreaking on May 31 for a new $10.1 million medical office building. Construction is now underway at the corner of 34th and McIntosh Circle for the three-story, 30,169-square-foot building.

“This is the first part of phase one of a long-term expansion plan,” said Paula F. Baker, Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our goal is to provide the best-possible experience for our patients and their loved ones, and that includes well-situated, modern offices providing the latest technologies and treatments. Of course, when you visit our new medical office building, you’ll receive the same top-notch care you’ve come to expect from Freeman Health System’s friendly, compassionate team of healing experts.”

The medical office building will house offices for physicians specializing in pain management, dermatology, urology, general surgery, and more in the near future. A covered canopy on the main level will offer protection for patients during drop-off and pickup. There will also be a connector bridge to the Freeman Cornell-Beshore Cancer Institute building for better accessibility.

“Getting in and out of the building will be safe and easy,” said Baker. “Freeman endeavors to offer the area’s most comprehensive range of medical specialties, and this project is our next step in the continual upgrading and improvement of our services and facilities.”
