Missouri Southern State University’s Choral Society Spring Concert to Be Held May 1, 2022

(Joplin, MO) – The Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) Choral Society will perform its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 1, 3:00 pm at the First Community Church, 2007 E 15th Street, in Joplin.

Opening the concert will be the Choral Society’s signature song, Marvin Hamlisch’s “One Song.” The concert’s featured piece is a choral review of the music from The Wizard of Oz, including several solos by chorus members. Also performed will be a rousing compilation “Swinging With The Saints” which will put a smile on everyone’s face. Also included are two selections by John Rutter, “Seeds Grow to Plants” and “For the Beauty of the Earth.” The haunting “My Land” by Brendan Graham will evoke a feeling of fondness for home.

Melissa Belk is the conductor of the chorus and Clint Newby is the accompanist.

The event is free, and donations will be gratefully accepted.
