(Joplin, MO) – Join the Joplin Empire Market this Saturday, March 19, for the 3rd Annual Empire Market Chili Cookoff! Hall Three will be full of local cooks vying for the title of Best Chili! Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants, as decided by our panel of judges. There will also be a prize for “All-Market Chili,” given to the contestant who uses the most ingredients from Empire Market vendors, and a “People’s Choice Chili,” which visitors can vote on by putting dollar bills in the contestants’ jars.
Public tasting begins at 11:00 am in Hall Three — a $5 suggested donation will allow you to visit all contestants and get cups of chili to try. Complementary crackers will be provided. All proceeds from the tasting will go towards the Empire Market’s Community Kitchen fund.
Our other great market vendors will be set up in Halls One and Two (as well as outside), so you can come grab your favorite local breads, produce, wine, beer, honey, eggs, coffee, pastured meat, bath and body products, and artisan goods. The Market will be packed with vendors! Live music will be provided by Andrew Pommert from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The market will be open regular Saturday hours from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Chili tasting begins at 11:00 am and lasts until our chefs runs out!
