Public Meeting Set for February 10 for Stormwater Project Near Canterbury Lane

(Joplin, MO) – The City of Joplin will complete stormwater improvements in the area of Canterbury Lane near East 4th Street. An open house public meeting with City engineers and representatives of the City’s design engineer firm of Olsson has been scheduled for Thursday, February 10 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Joplin Housing Authority Community Room located at 5th Street and Turk Avenue.

Citizens are welcome to come any time during these hours to view the preliminary plans and ask questions about the upcoming project.

The project will add storm sewer on 4th Street west of Canterbury Lane, install a paved block ditch off of Canterbury Lane and replace the existing pipe culverts on Northpark Lane with a box culvert. These improvements will allow for more efficient stormwater conveyance. (The construction area is located to the east of Northpark Crossing, and should not interfere with traffic going to these stores.)

The project is funded through the Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax, which was recently renewed in 2021. If citizens are unable to attend the meeting and would like to discuss the project, please contact Steven Martinez at 417.624.0820, ext. 1531 smartine@joplinmo.org or Dan Johnson at 417.624.0820, ext. 1538.
