Joplin Little Theatre (JLT) is preparing for a month of fun, and sometimes spooky, events! October will feature several activities, including a trunk-or-treat event, a high school showcase, and auditions for their upcoming holiday show.
Trunk-or-Treat
JLT will be holding a trunk-or-treat event on Friday, October 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the parking lot of the Theatre, located at 3009 W. First Street in Joplin.
Trunk-or-treaters are encouraged to dress up and enjoy fun for all ages, including candy, dancing, and music courtesy of Josh Shackles, DJ! Bring the whole family and enjoy a fun night with JLT! Donations will be welcomed at the event.
High School Showcase
Area high schools will take the JLT stage for two evenings of local talent!
Students with Webb City, Neosho, and Carthage High Schools will be performing on October 30, starting at 7:00 pm, while students from Joplin High School, College Heights Christian School, and Carl Junction High will perform on November 6, starting at 7:00 pm.
Please plan to attend both events and support these talented students! More information to come; donations to JLT will be welcomed at the event.
Holiday Show Changes
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we must cancel the performances of Plaid Tidings. JLT will replace this showing with a play titled Six Who Were There by June Lauzon.
Auditions for Six Who Were There will be held on Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00 pm. The production will be directed by Greg Green. The show requires four men and two women, ages 20 or older. Those auditioning may perform a prepared monologue or read from the script.
In this holiday play, six different people are represented, each giving his or her own version of what happened on that starry and eventful night in Bethlehem. The monologues are accompanied by choral singing. This is a meaningful, warm play for the season.
The performance dates are December 1–5, 2021.

The JLT office has returned to regular office hours: Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please know that from September 29 to October 2, the box office will be open from 9:00 am until curtain time, and Sunday, October 3, the box office will not open until 12:00 pm. If no one answers the phone, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
