Community Support Services to Host Drive-Thru Luncheon for National Direct Support Professionals Week

(Joplin, MO) – To celebrate National Direct Support Professionals week, Community Support Services of Missouri (CSS) will hold a drive-thru luncheon for its direct support professionals and other staff on Thursday, September 16 at 12:00 pm. The luncheon will be held at the Empire Building located at 2330 S. Empire in Joplin.

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a person who assists an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to their community. They assist the disabled with activities of daily living, if needed, and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. A DSP may provide support to a person with a disability at home, school, church, and other community places.

At CSS, our DSP’s have the working title of Advocate as CSS believes that advocating for the rights and interests of the individuals we serve is top priority. Advocates are the heart of the agency and although we may not say it enough, they are the agency’s greatest asset.

The event is for CSS employees and staff only.
