(Joplin, MO) – Blackthorn Pizza & Pub has begun collecting school supplies for the 2021 to 2022 school season, which is gearing up later this month. All proceeds will be donated to the Lafayette House located at 1809 S. Connor Avenue in Joplin.
Items can be dropped off at 510 S. Joplin Avenue and at the Joplin Empire Market at 931 E. 4th Street in Joplin. The Lafayette House was founded in 1978 when they began as a short-term option for women who needed a safe place to stay overnight to escape domestic violence. Today, Lafayette House is a sanctuary for individuals and families who are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault or who struggle with substance use disorders. They offer a full range of services to support individuals and their families.
School supply items that are needed include:
- Backpacks (of all sizes)
- Bottles of glue and glue sticks
- Fiskar blunt-edge scissors
- Washable markers
- Tissue boxes
- Wide-rule notebook paper
- Pink erasers
- Spiral notebooks
- School boxes/pencil boxes
