(Joplin, MO) – This August, the Wildcat Glades Friends Group, along with other partners, will be hosting a hands-on preschool connections program and an entire week of water-based classes leading up to their annual Water Festival.
Water Festival Week:
All of the following classes are free for the family during the week of August 9 through 13. Come out and join us for an entire week centered on water as we lead up to our annual water festival!
Shoal Creek Clean Up
August 9 | 9:00 am | Free to attend | Grand Falls
Join us and our friends from the Missouri Department of Conservation to clean up our stream! Bring your own canoe/kayak or borrow one of ours. Please do not use paddle boards. We will float and clean up the creek banks from just below the Grand Falls to the treatment plant downstream.
There are 10 available canoes to use, so please specify if you will need to borrow one our ours. Please register via our Facebook page or email lauren@wildcatglades.org.
Reading Rivers
August 10 | 6:00 pm | Free to attend | Wildcat Education Cottage
Join us as we learn how to read the river and make the safe choice when floating in any type of vessel. We will also talk about the importance of lifejackets and the proper fit for you.

Birds on the River
August 11 | 8:30 am or 5:30 pm | Free to attend | Wildcat Pavilion
There will be two chances to join our local Audubon Chapter for a guided bird hike along the Wildcat Trail! Bring your binoculars, lace up your hiking shoes, and bring along some water while you enjoy the birds that call Shoal Creek home, even if its for a short time.

Paddling with Your Dog
August 13 | 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm | Free to attend | Wildcat Park Boat Ramp | Sponsored by Heartland Feed
Join us and our guest instructor to learn how to be safe on the water when paddling with your fur babies. She will go over proper loading, lifejacket fit, and basic first aid on the water.

Water Festival

Join us for our annual Water Festival and a day of fun near the river!
There will be a fishing derby, live music, games, education vendors, food trucks, boat races and more! Look at our website wildcatglades.org or our Facebook page for the rules and registration of the cardboard boat/shoebox boat races or to purchase duck race ducks.
