(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) welcomes the community for June’s Third Thursday! Celebrate being part of Joplin, enjoy some jazz, dine on some great food, and check out the vendors at Thursday’s event.
This month’s sponsor, Pro Musica, presents the Brubeck Brothers Quartet. This live jazz concert will be at 6th and Main from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The Brubeck Brothers were last in Joplin in 2018, and it is exciting to welcome them back — they are always an audience favorite with their dynamic music and engaging performance. No reservations are required. This is a bring-your-own-chair performance!
Join in the Annual “You Belong Celebration,” which acknowledges the hard work our community has done to be a welcoming city for everyone. Two elements of this annual celebration are the solidarity walk and a long community table in the food truck area; the Joplin Table represents where the citizens of Joplin get to meet as one community. At 6:00 pm, join Mayor Stanley, City Council members, the business community, faith leaders, and other Joplin neighbors as they depart from City Hall and walk to 3rd and Main Street. Following the walk at 6:10 pm, hear remarks from Mayor Stanley and Community Leaders at 3rd and Main.
Also enjoy over 20 food trucks, the vintage car cruise on the 200 block, an Artisan market on the 500 block, and a Joplin Community Table at 3rd and Main Street. There will also be a free, pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic in front of City Hall.
Lori Haun, executive director of the DJA, states, “This month is going to be busy! With a full-scale jazz concert and the You Belong Celebration, this is one Third Thursday you won’t want to miss!”
Sponsors, volunteers, and vendors are all being sought for the remaining events of the season. More information can be found on the Third Thursday Facebook page or at downtownjoplin.com/thirdthursday.
