Freeman Joplin Memorial Run Announces Approval to Move Forward with In-Person Race

(Joplin, MO) – On Monday, October 12, 2020, the Joplin City Council approved the Freeman Joplin Memorial Run (JMR) to move forward with its rescheduled race date of Saturday, December 12, 2020. The race, originally scheduled for May 16, was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the Council’s approval, JMR is also moving forward with approval from both the Joplin Health Department and Freeman Health System

JMR Race Director Ruth Sawkins has produced two events during the pandemic, utilizing CDC recommended practices and procedures, and will soon be releasing the full COVID modifications plan for JMR under guidance of the Joplin Health Department and Freeman Health System.

Active Lifestyle Events President Audie Dennis says “We are very thankful to the City of Joplin, the Joplin Health Department, and to Freeman Health System for the confidence they have placed in us and in our ability to produce a safe environment for our participants. With everything that has happened in 2020, we know our runners are excited to be able to participate in an uplifting, positive event.”

The 2020 Freeman Joplin Memorial Run will take place on Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12, 2020. The Freeman Joplin Memorial Run is a project of Active Lifestyle Events, Inc. and is produced by Rufus Racing.
