(Joplin, MO) Arvest Bank leadership, on behalf of the Arvest Foundation, were happy to donate $5,000 to support the mission of the Aspire Scholarship Program. The award funds will go towards supporting single parents so they can attain self-sufficiency through post-secondary education. The Aspire Scholarship program was created in 2010 and provides incentive scholarships to qualified low-income, single parents who are pursuing a professional degree at a college, university, or technical school.

The donation was held at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, inside the Liberty Room, located at 320 E. 4th Street in Joplin, Missouri. Arvest Bank associates were on hand to present the check, on behalf of the Arvest Foundation, to Aspire board and team members.

The goal of the Aspire Scholarship program is to help single parents attain an education, to graduate and obtain well-paid, skilled employment, thus breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a brighter economic future for their family.

“We are excited to receive the Arvest Foundation award,” said Katie Fields, Executive Director of Aspire Scholarship Program. “This award will allow us to provide scholarships to five hard-working single parents in our area. These scholarships empower our students to dream, learn, and succeed in life.”

“Removing barriers to education empowers parents to pursue the skills needed for enriching, family-sustaining careers. Single parents often face significant challenges around finances, housing, and childcare that prevent them from accessing and successfully completing programs that could lift their family out of poverty,” said Lacie Waggoner, Arvest Bank Marketing Manager. “Arvest Foundation is a consistent supporter of programs and organizations, such as the Aspire Scholarship Program, that provides access to quality education and increased opportunities throughout our four-state region.”
