(Joplin, MO) – 3-D technology has changed printing, automobile production, and even the world of medicine. And now it plays a role in helping women in their recovery from breast cancer.

Freeman Health System is proud to be the first and only local provider of Radiant Impressions, Trulife’s Custom Breast Prosthesis. Available at Pink Door Boutique, this exciting technology uses 3-D imaging of the surgical site to create a revolutionary silicone breast prosthesis, which allows a perfect match for contour, shape and profile.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. For many, that means the possibility of a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or reconstructive surgery.

“Every woman’s surgery is different and can leave the chest wall unlevel, making the fitting a breast prosthesis difficult,” says Lisa Nelson, Pink Door Boutique Coordinator. “That’s all changing with Radiant Impressions.”

“I have a kind of divot under my arm after surgery,” says Tracy Bowman. “But Trulife’s Radiant Impressions will contour to my body and fit indentations instead of a prosthesis just sitting in my bra or swimsuit. I can’t wait.”

“The technology is amazing!” Bowman beamed. “I was amazed as they did my scan. How it matches your skin is very realistic and they can even put in things like freckles.”

The prosthesis is hand-crafted and hand-painted with one of 36 skin tones that the patient selects, along with several other customizable options.

“Our goal is to make a positive difference in the way women look and feel,” Nelson says. “An ill-fitting prosthesis could shift in a bra and proved to be a constant reminder of breast cancer for some women. Radiant Impressions prosthesis are uniquely designed so that a woman feels like it is part of herself.”

“You don’t want to think about it,” says Bowman. “It’s hard enough dealing with breast cancer. I’m really excited about how Radiant Impressions will fit without gaping. I think it will help with my confidence.”

Nelson and other staff are certified to fit candidates for the Radiant Impression prosthesis. Contact Lisa at 417.347.7465 for questions, insurance verification, eligibility and to make an appointment to see the gorgeous custom breast prosthesis.
