City’s survey asks: How have you been affected by COVID-19?

(Joplin, MO) – In continued efforts to assist our community with the response and recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Joplin has developed a survey to learn how COVID-19 has impacted different areas of the community. The Disaster Impact Assessment survey asks residents, businesses, and not-for-profit (NFP) organizations about various challenges they have faced because of the pandemic.

“We encourage everyone to fill out a survey,” said Troy Bolander, Director of Planning, Development and Neighborhood Services. “No matter what category you may fall under, your answers will help us learn more about areas to focus on during this community-wide project.”

In assessing the impacts noted in the surveys, the City will identify the critical needs to be addressed and work to access potential sources of federal funding available that can help with these areas in the community.

The three surveys focus on specific issues of each category. Residents can voice their opinion on how their lives were affected during the pandemic. Business owners and not-for-profit leaders can help identify what resources and operations were interrupted or cancelled and the impact that these had on their organization.

The online surveys are available starting Thursday, June 4 and can be accessed by clicking on this link: COVID-19 Response page of the City’s website. The deadline to complete these surveys is 5 p.m. on Friday June 12.

A print version of the Resident Survey will also be available at Joplin City Hall, 602 S Main Street. Please look for the survey at the Information Desk located on the 1st floor lobby. After completing the survey, please return the form to the box by the survey.

The City appreciates everyone providing their feedback about this unprecedented time and helping identify critical needs in the community as we work together towards recovery.
