Every person has had a teacher that has touched their life in a special way. For 35 years, the Golden Apple award has been a way for students to recognize, honor and thank their teachers. This year we had 131 unique nominees and narrowed it down to 4 recipients. Congratulations to our 2020 Golden Apple Recipients!Thank you Liberty Utilities and Missouri Southern State University for supporting this program.

Golden Apple Award Winners announced sponsored by Liberty Utilities and Missouri Southern State University.

Joplin, MO – May 20, 2020 – The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners for the 2020 Golden Apple Awards. This year, 131 educators from Joplin public and private schools were nominated by students, parents, and coworkers. The Golden Apple Awards program, in its 35th year, is designed to recognize excellence in the teaching profession.

Awards are given in four categories: grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Nominees are certified classroom teachers who instruct students on a daily basis and are teaching during the 2019-2020 school year.

Erin Snodgrass, Cecil Floyd Elementary School, grades K-2

Katherine Hargrove, Jefferson Elementary School, grades 3-5

Tashena Vickers, South Middle School, grades 6-8

Darbi Stancell, McAuley High School, grades 9-12
