(Joplin, MO) – The Memorial Hall Study is near completion, and City of Joplin staff appreciates everyone’s help with answering questions, providing input and attending the meetings to discuss the future of this historic building.

We are now at the FINAL Survey stage for Memorial Hall that provides conceptual drawings and schematics of how different options would work and appear at the current site of the building, 8th and Joplin Avenue. If individuals have not opened this link to see the possibilities, we encourage them to do so. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and we’re just needing a few of those words in your feedback.

Please take a few minutes to share your opinion. Thank you! surveymonkey.com/r/MemorialHallConcept

Information will be compiled following this final stage, with results of the Memorial Hall Study presented to the City Council in January 2021.

Background info: City staff has been working with the consultant group of SFS Architecture, to determine the future of this 95-year-old City landmark. Memorial Hall has played a diverse role in our community. It was built in 1925 as a war veteran memorial to honor the men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms. The building has hosted many types of events throughout the years including athletic games and competitions, concerts and family activities. The study is a comprehensive project to review the current structure and needed repairs, along with possible uses for future generations.
