Main Street Streetscaping Project to Begin Nov. 3

The Main Street Streetscaping project is set to begin Tuesday, Nov. 3, and drivers who utilize Main should be aware of a series of scheduled lane closures.
Initially, work will start with the section of Main Street going from 15th to 12th Streets on the east side of the roadway. Traffic within this section will be limited to one lane in each direction and will be shifted to the west side of the roadway with signage and channelizing devices.
This is the first phase of the project that will transform Main Street from 8th through 15th Streets. As the project progresses, citizens will be notified in advance of changes to the work zones and traffic patterns.
The $5.3 million project has been awarded to Sprouls Construction Inc. and is expected to take approximately 9 months. Half of the funding for the work to beautify Midtown is provided by a Community Project Funding (CPF) grant administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The other half will come from the City’s Transportation Sales Tax.
