(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance announces the start of the 2026 Clean Team season, sponsored this year by JoplinRecycles.com “From plastic bottles to metal cans, recycling in Joplin is easy. Twice a month, from March through October (beginning March 7), dedicated volunteer leaders from Downtown Joplin Alliance’s Design Committee will meet up with interested parties to help pick up litter in assorted downtown locations. Each pickup group will be scheduled from 9:00 to 10:00 am and will meet a Joplin Avenue Coffee Company (506 S Joplin Ave) before going to the designated zone. Trash bags, gloves, buckets, and grabbers will be provided, though bringing extra is always appreciated. For 2026, thanks to JoplinRecycles.com, all volunteers will be provided with a complimentary “Downtown Volunteer Crew” tee shirt to keep.

Those who are unable to attend Clean Team events and still want to help, are asked to gather friends, family, or coworkers and take ten to 15 minutes walking around your work, home, or favorite hangout and help keep it beautiful by cleaning up any trash and debris. Share the before and after pictures of your efforts and tag Downtown Joplin Alliance. Remember, most litter becomes too dirty to recycle!
If you find anything hazardous, call the City of Joplin to have them safely remove the item(s).
