Nominations Open for Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Citizen of the Year Award, Powered by Guaranty Bank

(Joplin, MO)Nominations are now open for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Citizen of the Year Award, powered by Guaranty Bank. 

The Citizen of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual who is making a positive impact in the community and recognizes that individual’s contributions to Joplin, their dedication to improving our community, and their service to the area.   

To be nominated, nominees must currently live and/or work in the Joplin area and have lived and/or worked in the community for at least three years. Additionally, nominees must: 

  • Participate in activities that significantly enhance the quality of life in the community.  
  • Demonstrate exceptional ethical qualities and a commitment to improving/preserving the community.  
  • Shows remarkable citizenship and volunteer spirit that spans several years, reflecting a continuous dedication to service.  
  • Acts as a role model and inspiration for others in the community through their actions and leadership.  
  • Must have been an active Chamber member for a minimum of two years and must not be a previous recipient of this award.  

No awards will be given posthumously.  

All nominations will be reviewed by a panel of active Chamber members.
