(Atlanta, MO) – Compass Academy Network (CAN) is proud to award Atlanta C-3 School District a $5,000 Partner Grant in recognition of its outstanding efforts and participation in the 2025 CAN summer program. The award was presented on January 13 during the high school basketball game. The grant supports middle school initiatives and celebrates the school’s commitment to student growth and development.
This summer, more than 280 students participated in CAN’s free, four-week, full-day summer enrichment programs across rural sites in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. In Atlanta, 24 students participated in the program, with 15 students graduating with perfect participation and earning a $45 Walmart gift card for school supplies. The success of the Atlanta program was made possible by the help of its program sponsor, TAMKO Building Products.
Led by local educators and Peer Mentors, college students who are aspiring teachers, CAN offers hands-on activities and experiences designed to help middle school students entering grades 6–9 grow, learn, and stay engaged during the summer.
“Compass is about more than academics, it’s about helping students believe in themselves and their potential,” said Debra Humphreys, Founder and CEO of Compass Academy Network. “We’re proud to partner with rural school districts to continue to create meaningful opportunities for students to grow as learners, citizens, and future leaders.”
CAN’s curriculum features hands-on activities in Civic Leadership, Creative Writing, Mathematical Reasoning, The Science of Decision Making, Artistic Exploration, Career Pathways & Personal Development, and Team Building. Each week, students enjoy Friday field trips to places like the Disney Hometown Museum, Mark Twain Museum, and University of Missouri.
