(Quapaw, OK)It was a party for the ages on the evening of September 18 as the 10th Annual Freeman Nursing Gala raised a record-shattering $150,000 for the Freeman Health System Nursing Education Fund.

That’s $62,000 more than last year’s record amount of $88,000.

“This incredible achievement would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors and supporters,” said Freeman Development and Children’s Miracle Network Manager Brandy Miller-Turner. “Their commitment ensures our nurses have access to continuing education opportunities that enhance their skills and ultimately benefit the patients and families we serve.”

Each year, the gala plays a pivotal role by raising money for the nursing fund, which is designed to support Freeman registered nurses in the advancement of their education and relieve some of their financial burdens.

A record 500 attendees, the largest ever, sold out the celebration hosted by Downstream Casino Resort. The concept behind this year’s party, which had a “Nursing Through the Decades” theme, is a simple one: celebrating and honoring the quality of nursing found at Freeman Health System.

Winners of the Outstanding Nurse of the Year awards were announced during the festivities. They were:

  • Ambulatory Care – Ashley Hoyer
  • Non-Traditional – Janay Jones
  • Critical Care – Summer Michael
  • Medical-Surgical – Becca Brown
  • Specialty Care – Bill Brown
  • Advanced Practice Nurse – Lori Reed
