Connect2Culture, Ballet Arkansas, and Karen’s Dance Studio Offer Community Cast Auditions, Masterclass on October 5

(Joplin, MO)Connect2Culture (C2C) excited to partner with Ballet Arkansas and Karen’s Dance Studio for community cast auditions and a masterclass in conjunction with the performance Ballet Arkansas’s Magic of the Nutcracker.

“This is an exciting opportunity for dancers in our area,” says Emily Frankoski, Executive Director of C2C. “Not only do they have a chance to learn from a prestigious, professional dance company like Ballet Arkansas, dancers can also audition to be in the cast of the professional production of Ballet Arkansas’s Magic of the Nutcracker.”

Experience The Magic of the Nutcracker — A Beloved Holiday Classic Reimagined. Arkansas’s largest and longest-running holiday production, Ballet Arkansas’s The Nutcracker Spectacular, has enchanted generations with its majestic choreography, glittering costumes, and the warmth of a true community celebration.

This season, its legacy inspires a new chapter: The Magic of the Nutcracker — a holiday reimagining that distills the beloved story into an intimate, atmospheric experience, perfect for families. Guided by Herr Drosselmeyer, Clara’s Christmas Eve transforms into a magical journey through swirling snowflakes and a glittering Kingdom of Sweets — told through unforgettable dancing, vivid storytelling, and the warmth of the season.

Ballet Arkansas’s Magic of the Nutcracker Community Cast Auditions

Sunday, October 5 | Karen’s Dance Studio (2113 Davis Boulevard) | 2:45 pm | $25 per audition

Audition to be in The Magic of the Nutcracker, Ballet Arkansas’s holiday reimagining that distills the beloved story into an intimate atmospheric experience. Auditions are open to dancers 11 and older. Rehearsals begin October 12 and will be held each Sunday through November 16 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm; the first rehearsal is mandatory. If cast, participants will be charged a $100 non-refundable production and costume fee, which is due upon registration. Registration is required before October 5 and can be completed here.

Masterclass with Ballet Arkansas (14+)

Wednesday, November 19, 2025 | Karen’s Dance Studio (2113 Davis Boulevard) | 6:00 pm | $25 per person

Connect2Culture proudly presents an exclusive masterclass with Ballet Arkansas led by company artists, offering dancers the opportunity to refine their technique, artistry, and performance skills with one of the region’s premier professional ballet companies. Open to ages 14 and up.

We look forward to providing opportunities for community between local area dancers and Ballet Arkansas’s professional company and to celebrate the season,” says Catherine Fothergill, Associate Artistic Director for Ballet Arkansas.
