(Joplin, MO) – Lafayette House is pleased to announce the successful securing of funds for a crucial 40-ton air-cooled packaged scroll chiller, made possible through generous donations from the W.R. Corley Trust, Ruth I. Kolpin Family Fund, Blue Buffalo, the Department of Social Services for the State of Missouri, and private donors of Lafayette House. This essential upgrade will ensure a safe and comfortable environment for over 900 individuals annually who rely on Lafayette House’s vital services.
“The new chiller system was a dire need for our facility,” said Susan Hickam, Executive Director of Lafayette House. “It allows us to maintain appropriate temperatures throughout our building, crucial for the well-being of our clients who are in recovery or seeking services and for our dedicated staff who serve those clients every day. We’re immensely grateful for all the donors who made this possible.”
Lafayette House serves as a beacon of hope for individuals grappling with the impacts of domestic violence, sexual assault, and substance use disorders. The organization provides a range of essential services, including emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy, treatment court, case management, 24-hour hotline, transportation, food service, prevention education, family resources, and childcare support.
The installation of the new chiller system represents more than just a facility improvement – it’s an investment in the dignity and comfort of those seeking refuge and healing at Lafayette House. During the hot Missouri summers, maintaining proper cooling is essential for creating an environment where trauma survivors can feel safe and supported throughout their recovery journey.
Lafayette House extends their heartfelt thanks to their generous donors — the W.R. Corley Trust, Ruth I. Kolpin Family Fund, Blue Buffalo, and community friends — for their partnership in this transformative project. Their support enables Lafayette House to continue its mission of providing a haven and vital services to those in need.
