Want to get involved in your downtown community, but you aren’t quite sure where to start? Then Downtown Joplin Alliance’s (DJA) Volunteer Expo is for you!
Come join a group of like-minded people, learn how to use your skills to make Joplin a better place, and enjoy a cookout under the stars, with delicious food courtesy of Purple Chin Condiment Company! This expo is a low-stakes night that allows potential volunteers to discover some of the programs that DJA offers, as well as how you can make them better. These programs include:
- WineShare
- Downtown Clean Team
- Empire Market
- Downtown Now
- Market Gardens
- Endangered Properties Program
- Downtown Holiday Experience
- Third Thursday
The event will be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Empire Market (931 E. 4th Street). The format of the evening will be as follows:
- Introduction to Downtown Joplin Alliance (mission, strategies, Board of Directors, etc.)
- Introduction to the Main Street Method and the Four Points (economic vitality, design, promotions, organization)
- Introduction to Empire Market Programming
- Breakout Tables
