Joplin Schools Announces Free Summer Meals Program for Local Children

Joplin Schools is excited to announce that local children ages 18 and younger are welcome to eat breakfast and lunch with them this summer!

Breakfast and lunch will be served throughout the district at all summer school locations during the dates and times listed below:

  • Joplin High School
    • Breakfast: 8:00 to 9:00 am
    • Lunch: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm
  • South Middle School
    • Breakfast: 8:00 to 9:00 am
    • Lunch: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Cecil Floyd Elementary School
    • Breakfast: 7:00 to 8:00 am
    • Lunch: 10:50 am to 12:30 pm
  • Dover Hill Elementary School
    • Breakfast: 7:00 to 8:00 am
    • Lunch: 10:50 am to 12:30 pm
  • Irving Elementary School
    • Breakfast: 7:00 to 8:00 am
    • Lunch: 10:50 am to 12:30 pm

After summer school concludes, lunches will be available at the following locations:

  • Jefferson Elementary School
    • Mondays to Fridays beginning July 7 and ending on August 16
    • Meals available from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Joplin Public Library
    • Mondays to Fridays beginning July 1 and ending on August 16 (closed on July 4)
    • Meals available from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm

Participants in this program must eat their meals on-site. Children may also be eligible for a one-time benefit of $120 in Missouri SunBucks, a Department of Social Services program that can help families pay for food for school-aged children over the summer. This program is still pending approval, but you can subscribe to email updates about when and how to apply here.
