The Tri-State Area Contractors Association (TSACA) awarded scholarships totaling $17,000 to ten recipients on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Checks were presented to Amber Duncan of R.E. Smith Construction, who is the Scholarship Committee Chairperson. The dinner presentation was sponsored by Branco Enterprises.
The 2023–2024 scholarship recipients are:
- Riley Bush, an accounting major whose father works for Branco Enterprises, received a partial scholarship.
- Lindsey Crum, a business administration major who works for Branco Enterprises, received a partial scholarship.
- Will Ghan, a Construction management major who works for APAC Central, received a full scholarship.
- Jasmine Hill, an industrial engineering major whose father works at G&H Redi-Mix, received a partial scholarship.
- Jack Lusker, a construction management major whose father owns Lusker Masonry, received a full scholarship.
- Alice Meadows, a master of architecture major who works for Paragon Architecture, received a full scholarship.
- Ethan Roark, a construction technology major who works for Crossland Construction and whose grandfather works for Beimdiek, received a full scholarship.
- Brett Rockers, a construction management major who works for Crossland Construction, received a full scholarship.
- Bryson Trogdon, a construction management major who works for APAC Central, received a full scholarship.
- Ryan Wentworth, a construction engineering technology major whose father works for Republic Services, received a full scholarship.
The goal of the TSACA Scholarship Program is to support students who are pursuing a degree or accreditation in the construction field. The program is open to employees of member companies as well as children of employees who work at member companies. Applicants must complete an application, submit an essay explaining what they want to do in the construction industry, provide references, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Recipients are chosen by the TSACA Scholarship Committee consisting of Amber Duncan, R.E. Smith Construction; Brandon Wilson, Bill’s Electric, Inc.; Bryce McDermott, Branco Enterprises; Craig Hardy, Sign Designs; and Brian Atnip, MJR Surveying LLC.
The TSACA Scholarship Program is funded by member donations through membership renewals and donations at all TSACA events.
