(Joplin, MO) – The City of Joplin, through the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), will hold two public meetings this week as part of its Travel Venue Needs Assessment. The CVB has contracted with the Minneapolis and New York offices of Conventions Sports and Leisure International to evaluate the venues within Joplin’s group travel region to create this summary to assist in future marketing opportunities.
Public engagement is the first phase of their work as an integral role in shaping the future of the City of Joplin and the regional tourism market. The CVB invites everyone to attend one of the upcoming meetings:
- Wednesday, February 15, 3:00 – 4:00 pm, Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex
- Thursday, February 16, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Council Chamber, 5th Floor, Joplin City Hall
CSL International has been tasked to define the strategic steps in positioning the Joplin regional tourism market as a more vital group travel destination while defining opportunities, priorities, funding options, current and potential venue needs, and case study examples that support assessment findings.
“The Joplin community recognizes many of our strengths and has great insight on what new amenities and offerings could enhance Joplin as a destination,” said CVB Director Patrick Tuttle. “We encourage everyone to attend one of the meetings and lend their voice to this effort to move Joplin forward.”
