(Diamond, MO) – Would you like to learn more about products developed by George Washington Carver? Join a park ranger in the science classroom at George Washington Carver National Monument this Saturday, July 16 for come-and-go demonstrations from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. These hands-on activities will include experiments with peanuts and sweet potatoes. George Washington Carver made hundreds of products from these two crops. Learn more about his motivation to share his knowledge with farm families.
George Washington Carver is remembered as a scientist, educator, and humanitarian. On Sunday, July 17, a park ranger will present the program Women in George Washington Carver’s Life, an in-depth look at the women who mentored and guided him. Their impact on his life encouraged him to pursue an advanced education and choose a career of service to others. This program will take place inside the visitor center at 1:00 pm. All programs are free of charge.
