(Joplin, MO) – Starting Monday, February 7, 10th Street between Main Street and Joplin Avenue will be closed for a stormwater improvement project. This closure is scheduled for seven calendar days and will begin at 7:00 am on February 7.
This closure will allow for the replacement of a failed box culvert with a 72-inch culvert on the west side of Main Street. The top of the existing culvert also served as a sidewalk. The improvement will enhance the stormwater system by providing a more efficient conveyance system in the area. Sidewalk improvements along the west side of Main Street and south side of 10th Street will also be completed with new inlets and an ADA ramp.
Southwest Missouri Traffic is the prime contractor on the job with D&E Plumbing and Heating as the sub-contractor.
This area will open gain on Monday, February 14, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured during this time. Drivers may want to choose alternative routes due to possible delays.
The project is funded through the Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax, which voters renewed in 2021.
