Sunday, March 29 | 2:00 pm | Tickets: $5 for kids, $20 for adults | Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex
Ready… Steady… Go! Hare & Tortoise is a playful, music-filled adaptation of Aesop’s classic fable brought to vibrant life by the UK-based Tutti Frutti Productions. This enchanting performance follows two unlikely friends—the speedy, confident Hare and the calm, steady Tortoise—as they race through the four seasons, discovering lessons about patience, friendship, and growth. Featuring three versatile actor-musicians, unforgettable original songs, and inventive physical storytelling, Hare & Tortoise enchants audiences with its charm, humor, and heart.
Tutti Frutti Productions has been creating imaginative, story-based theatre for children aged three and up for more than 30 years. They’ve earned acclaim for their inventive, highly physical approach, commissioning award-winning writers like Mike Kenny and Emma Reeves to craft fresh adaptations and original plays. Their shows tour internationally — having appeared at the Assitej World Congress in Warsaw and Cape Town, and the IPAY showcase in Madison — and have delighted audiences in Hong Kong, Singapore, Ireland, and throughout the United States.
Their recent productions, including Underneath a Magical Moon and The Ugly Duckling, have reached tens of thousands of children and families worldwide. Critics praise Hare & Tortoise for its “touchingly drawn friendship” and superb physicality, with The Guardian calling it “another fine show to introduce young children to an exciting theatrical world.”
Fun, imaginative, and gently inspiring, Hare & Tortoise offers a beautifully crafted introduction to live theatre — delivering a timeless message that slow and steady truly wins the day.
