Families Invited to Celebrate New Story at Leonard Park StoryWalk®

(Joplin, MO) — Families across the Joplin region are invited to gather for a joyful morning of reading, play, and connection as One Joplin unveils a brand-new story at the Leonard Park StoryWalk®. The celebration will take place on Thursday, March 12, at 9:00 am at Leonard Park (408 Turk Avenue, Joplin).

The free event is designed especially for children and families and will include:

  •  Interactive family activities
  • Children’s crafts
  • Family-friendly photo opportunities with Freeman’s Freddie the Fox
  • Complimentary children’s books
  • Community resources from Joplin Parents as Teachers

The featured story, Petey Perfect Pants by Kelley Donner, is a heartwarming and playful tale that celebrates individuality, confidence, and the joy of being yourself — messages that resonate with children and parents alike.

Presented in partnership with Freeman Health System, Ozark Center, and Joplin Parks and Recreation, the Leonard Park StoryWalk® offers families a unique opportunity to enjoy a book together while walking outdoors. Pages of the story are displayed along the park path, encouraging movement, imagination, and shared reading experiences.

“StoryWalk® creates a simple but powerful moment for families,” said Nicole Brown, Executive Director of One Joplin. “It provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages to enjoy the outdoors, read, and laugh.”
The event is free and open to the public.
