In 2023, the City of Joplin was awarded a federal grant to study public transit options that will better serve historically disadvantaged communities. This project builds upon the 2020 Joplin Transit System Analysis and will help inform service planning, revenue analysis and governance, and delivery model recommendations.
Project stakeholders have defined success for transit in the Joplin region as:
- Operationally sustainable
- Connecting people to destinations
- Promoting economic development
