(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) and Post Art Library (PAL) welcome the community to join them along with consultants from Lochmueller Group on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Joplin Avenue Coffee Company (506 S. Joplin Avenue) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm for a public meeting regarding the architectural survey of a potential new National Register historic district in downtown Joplin.
During the meeting, presenters will go over the scope of the project, including a timeline and what to expect during the survey process. All property owners within the survey district are encouraged to attend. Consultants and organizational representatives will be on hand to answer questions following the presentation.
In 2024, DJA and PAL collaboratively applied for and were awarded a Historic Preservation Fund matching grant through the State Historic Preservation Office of Missouri to carry out this survey project. Though this survey has the endorsement of the Joplin Historic Preservation Commission, it is not being conducted by that commission or by the City of Joplin. Funds to match the grant will come from DJA’s Endangered Properties Program Revolving Fund and private donations.
For more information, please contact DJA’s executive director, Lori Haun, or Post Art Library’s executive director, Jill Hallbach.
